n. A firm decision to do something.
My thoughts on new year resolutions, what mine are, and tips on how to choose & write your own!
A lot of people loath new year's resolutions, but I love them. I see resolutions as a chance to write a wishlist of all the short term goals I want to accomplish in 365 days; some of mine are totally doable, some are long shots, and some are straight up pipe dreams- Technically, resolutions should only be the "doables" since resolution means, "a firm decision to do something," and not, "it would be really cool if I accomplished this," but as a dreamer & overachiever, I write them all!
I use OneNote to outline, well, my entire life, so I definitely use it when writing my intentions for the year to come. I find great satisfaction checking those boxes once I accomplish something. Below is a screenshot of the HOME section of my OneNote (I've been adding to it since 2018):
When picking my resolutions, I break my life down in to categories: Home, Health, Travel, Life, & Work. I then list bullet points within each category, not going in to detail [yet], making sure I capture all the things I want to fulfil within each one. Once I have a good outline, I go back and fill in the fun details; I like to picture everything as I break it down, imagining as though it's already true (basically, it's the same principal as, "be the ball" or "vision the ball going in to the basket," etc.)
Alright, here they are... my resolutions
So due to me having a bazillion of them, I'm not going to bore you with all of them, instead I'm going to just share just a few:
HOME
In addition to the responsible goal, "refinance our home" (which is resolution NO. 1) & the one I'm REALLY stoked about, "hire a house cleaner," we also have a ton of home renovation projects that we need to finish (but I'm sure new ones will be added before the end of the year because I can't help myself!):

HEALTH
STYLE | A Lit Bit Alexis!
I, like the rest of the universe, am obsessed with the show, "Schitts Creek," David especially, but my heart belongs to Alexis- I love everything about her. I love her carefree attitude, her effortlessness, her street smarts, courage, her vocabulary, and of course... HER WARDROBE! I'm currently working on getting my closet up to Alexis Rose status without the hefty price tag; Yep, WITHOUT the price tag (it can be done)! I'm utilizing websites like Poshmark, eBay, and Etsy, and following sales closely. Below is my Pinterest board that chronicles what's currently hanging in my closet so you can track my progress (I will get my hands on that Caroline Constas Apollonia dress!):
TRAVEL
Every year we try to take one long trip (1-2 weeks, ideally, out of country) and one short trip (like a long weekend, so that usually means within the US). Since COVID hindered us from taking any vacations in 2020, one being our great Africa trip to visit our dear friends (shout out to Jacque & Matt), we are defiantly ready to take flight! September 2021 we shall be in Africa watching the animals cross the great Serengeti, feeding giraffes from our hotel window, and bathing baby elephants in a puddle of mud. For our short trip, I'm thinking skiing, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know in the comments!
WORK
Since there's no way I can list everything I want to accomplish in 2021 when it comes to work (work has it's own OneNote... the details are borderline serial killer), I'm going to list all the fun stuff, like starting the FBS Podcast about our industry, creating more tutorials & product demo videos, get a month ahead on my social media post/content, and put the final touches on my office decor (I actually have everything minus the images):
LiFE
Finally, the category that ties with Travel as my favorite: LiFE. Some of these have been on my list for years, and every year I intend to do them, I really do, and I think 2021 is the year it's going to happen:
