Some people take vacations to relax, catch up on their reading, sleep in & wake up late... We are NOT those people. We like to immerse ourselves in the culture, go until we drop, & jam pack as much site seeings as possible, and boy does NYC have some sites to see!  Check out how we saw "everything" in just  F O U R   D A Y S !  *Itinerary included*

WHAT YOU'RE HERE FOR

This was Cody's first & my second time to visit the Big Apple (but my first time as a legal drinking adult). I wanted to ensure we saw as much as possible so I put my "Type A" hat on & developed the below downloadable itinerary (and yes, we did everything on it!).

Hiccups: Carrying luggage up 5 flights of stairs {no elevator}
Miles Traveled: 1.718

Day 2

Sept. 26th
Highlights: Cody's first subway ride, touring the Statue of Liberty, posing with the "charging the bull," visiting the World Trade Center & the 9/11 Museum, shopping at Century 21, grabbing a pint at O'Hara's Pub, and finding the prettiest pair of heels.
Hiccups: Going the wrong direction on the subway, Ellis Island being closed, & forgetting my shopping bag at O'Hara's Pub
Highlight II: Finding my bag still at O'Hara's Pub
Miles Traveled: 5.418

Day 3

Sept. 27th
Highlights: Starting the day with "our usual" stop- Murray's Bagels, standing on top of the Empire State Building, meeting Swatch at Mood {Project Runway fans will get this}, Visiting the 30 Rock building & Top of the Rock, touring MoMa {Museum of Modern Art} for FREE & being inches away from Van Gogh's "Starry Night," walking the High Line & watching Cody play duck, duck, goose, grabbing dinner & a beer with my cousin Ari at The Frying Pan, & Getty Station {art exhibit}
Hiccups: The guards working at the Getty Station art installation {it was a unique exhibit} & at the end of the night trying to climb all those flights of stairs!
Miles Traveled: 8.003
This was that "low point" I told you about, and of course Cody took photos of my struggle...

Day 4

Sept 28th: Our Last Day
Highlights: Eating potato pancakes at Carnegie Deli, Central Park {walking The Mall, Bethesda Fountain, taking photos at Bow Bridge & the Alice & Wonderland statue, and paddling around the lake at the Loeb Boathouse}, tasting a Gray's Papaya, eating at Lombardi's Pizza in Little Italy, conquering the subway system to Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge, Ari showing us around DUMBO {her stomping grounds}, going to an art exhibit at Photovillie {a modular venue built from re-purposed shipping containers}
Hiccups: When my camera's lens stopped auto-focusing {making 1 handed photos a challenge} and how sore our legs & feet where
Miles Traveled: 6.543

Fun Facts

  • We only took 1 Taxi {to Little Italy}
  • I was able to sweet talk my way into TWO Non-public bathrooms {I felt accomplished}
  • The E Train is our favorite {It has A/C & it's digital}
  • We packed a frozen Digiorno pizza into our check bag {and we ate it that night for dinner}
  • Cody's hand was the same width as our bathroom sink
  • The fridge came with a beer, a bottle of Maker's Mark, & mustard
  • Open toed flats is equivalent to walking barefoot- they don't protect your feet from turning black
Our Bathroom Sink
These 3 contents were waiting for us in the fridge
Wear closed toed shoes {not flip-flops}

TRAVEL TIPS

  • Hire a car to drive you to the airport- It was cheaper than a cab & they're reliable
  • We used VRBO & Homeaway to find our apartment
  • Don't be afraid to talk to locals- they'll tell you the best places to eat & where to grab a drink
  • Use Google Maps to navigate {It even tells you what trains to use}; Below is our map:

  • Total Miles Traveled: 21.682 Miles
